PED virus spreads to Mexico
The PED virus has spread to Mexico from the United States. A Mexican news agency Noticieros Televisa says the virus is present in just one-percent of Mexico’s hog herds but has been reported in nearly every state in that country.
The report says Mexico’s Ag Ministry is not surprised by the spread of PEDv which likely came from U.S. hog imports and “some irregular shipments.”
The virus is NOT a danger to humans, only to pigs…and younger pigs have the highest mortality rate.
