Planting progress chugging along in Arkansas

With nearly 4 days suitable for fieldwork last week, Arkansas farmers continue to make good planting progress.

The USDA reports as of Sunday corn planting is 95% complete with 88% emerged and a condition rating of 68% good to excellent.

Soybean planting is 71% complete with 55% of the crop emerged and a rating of 62% good to excellent.

Rice is 89% planted, with 71% emerged. The crop is rated 62% good to excellent.

56% of cotton is planted with 26% emerged and peanut planting is 59% complete with 29% emerged.

Winter wheat is 90% headed and 26% of the crop is turning color. The USDA rates the crop 68% good to excellent.

The first cutting of alfalfa hay is 13% complete. 31% of the crop is considered good and 64% is rated fair.  Pasture conditions are considered 47% good to excellent.
