Rain brings harvest to a halt in southwest Minnesota

Rain brought harvest to a halt in southwest Minnesota.

Bryan Biegler of Lake Wilson says he started harvesting corn the third week of September and has since gone back and forth with soybeans.

“Started back on soybeans again last Friday, and now we’re a little over half done with our beans. Now we’re getting some rain so we’ll be shut down again for a few days.”

He tells Brownfield dry conditions during the growing season took a toll on soybeans.

“We’re probably going to average maybe lower to mid-40’s, just no rain this year and some of those hot spells we had really took the top end off yields this year.”

Biegler says corn is about 15 bushels below his APH and test weights are down.
