Rain delays Iowa harvest as corn progress falls behind average

Wet, cool weather is slowing harvest in Iowa

USDA’s latest weekly crop progress update shows 5 percent of corn has been harvested as of Sunday, compared to the five-year average of 10 percent.

“On (corn harvest), looks to me like it’s going to be awhile yet unfortunately. The weather has certainly not been cooperating, rain the last two weeks.”

The soybean harvest in Iowa is running slightly behind normal at 14 percent, but further delays are expected this week with more rain in the forecast.
