Rep. Nunn introduces Revitalizing Rural Communities Act

AUDIO: Congressman Zach Nunn – Revitalizing Rural Communities Act

A new bill in the House would increase investments in agricultural communities.

U.S. Congressman Zach Nunn says he’s co-authoring the Revitalizing Rural Communities Act.

“For a smaller community, rural infrastructure doesn’t happen very often,” he said. “But when it does, it’s usually a big task. We want to make sure our communities can be successful on that front.”

The legislation would increase funding for the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (RED L&G) Program from $50 million to $60 million over a five-year period.

The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield the need for rural infrastructure has been a frequent issue on his farm bill listening tour.

“Hearing from farmers, they want to be able to continue to grow, live, and work in the communities that they have grown up in and that they are giving back to,” Nunn said.

Since 2022, Iowa has been the top recipient of RED L&G grants nationwide, securing more than $28 million.
