Representative Costa is seeking House Ag Committee Chair

Congressman Jim Costa has announced he is seeking the chairmanship of the House Agriculture Committee.

As a third-generation farmer, Costa says he has the experience, expertise, and passion to connect with rural Americans and lead the committee.

The California Democrat was elected in 2005 and is third in seniority on the committee. He says he has a longstanding bipartisan track record of bringing people together to solve problems.

Congressman David Scott of Georgia is also seeking the chairmanship of the committee. He is the senior member of the House Agriculture Committee.

There is speculation that Congresswoman Marcia Fudge is also a candidate based on seniority, but she hasn’t made an announcement yet.
