Slow pace continues for wheat export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean exports inspections appear to have closed the 2017/18 marketing year on neutral to bearish notes. The previous marketing year for beans, corn, and sorghum officially ended August 31st.

For the week ending August 30th, 2018, wheat came out at 391,920 tons, down 96,830 from the week ending August 23rd, but up 100,654 from the week ending August 31st, 2017. For the 2018/19 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 5,235,208 tons, compared to 7,750,050 in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,334,565 tons, 69,778 higher than the previous week, but 506,529 higher than this time last year. With one reporting day left in the 2017/18 marketing year, corn inspections are 57,732,863 tons, compared to 56,947,583 late in 2016/17.

Soybeans were pegged at 769,357 tons, 138,588 less than the week before, but 57,236 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 56,279,551 tons, compared to 57,848,672 a year ago.

Sorghum totaled 792 tons, a decrease of 139,021 on the week and 5,780 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 5,112,421 tons, compared to 5,940,481 near the end of 2016/17.
