Soaring input costs on minds of farmers attending Minnesota Farmfest

Soaring input costs are on the minds of farmers attending one of the largest farm shows in the Upper Midwest. 

Speaking to Brownfield during the first day of Minnesota Farmfest Tuesday, Minnesota Corn Growers president Bryan Biegler says fertilizer prices are a big concern.

“I’m waiting to hear from my fertilizer dealer right now on cost, and just preliminary numbers, I know they’re up considerably from what they have been. We’re looking at probably $200 (more) for our N, P&K products.”

The Lake Wilson corn and soybean grower expects other inputs to also go up in price ahead of next year’s growing season.

“Seed costs sound like they’re going to be going up a certain percentage again, and who knows with chemicals. I’m sure they’re going to be going up with fuel prices and everything going up.”
