Solid end to 2016/17 for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections ended the 2016/17 marketing year above USDA projections.

Wheat came out at 252,465 tons, down 422,635 from the week ending August 24th and 390,543 lower than the week ending September 1st, 2016. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 7,692,860 tons, compared to 7,259,358 in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 797,555 tons, 24,828 less than the previous week and 671,568 below this time last year. At the end of the 2016/17 marketing year, corn inspections were 56,903,395 tons, compared to 46,753,657 on the last official day of 2015/16.

Soybeans were pegged at 644,909 tons, a decline of 92,434 from the week before and 587,830 under a year ago. Cumulative soybean export inspections were 57,717,073 tons, compared to 51,503,255 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 4,703 tons. That’s a decrease of 95,906 tons on the week and 36,083 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections were 5,914,725 tons, compared to 8,789,422 in 2015/16.
