South Dakota spring grains planting just beginning

About all the planting done in South Dakota so far is oats and spring wheat.  They’re about six percent done; spring wheat about eight percent planted.  Topsoil moisture 76 percent adequate to surplus.

Winter wheat is 66 percent good to excellent.

Hay and roughage supplies are plentiful so far; about 87 percent adequate to surplus.
