Soybean farmers seek export market expansion

Soybean farmers across the Midwest want to see export opportunities grow.

Aaron Putze, Senior Director of Information and Education with the Iowa Soybean Association, says US Trade Representative Katherine Tai’s recent visit to Iowa was an opportunity to highlight some of the advantages of US soybeans.

“We do it better here in the United States than anywhere else on the face of the Earth,” Putze said. “We are committed to a quality product grown sustainably using as few amounts of inputs as possible.”

He tells Brownfield any conversation about trade starts with China, but broad-based growth is key.

“Vietnam, the Philippines, Egypt, South America, Pakistan, and Bangladesh,” Putze said. “A lot of those countries continue to show a lot of promise.”

Iowa ranks second nationally in soybean production.
