Spring wheat planting 40% complete in South Dakota

Spring wheat planting made big progress last week across South Dakota, well ahead of average.

USDA says 40% of the crop has been planted and 6% of the crop is emerged. South Dakota’s winter wheat condition is 63% good to excellent.

Corn and sorghum planting are both 3% complete, ahead of average.

Oats are 45% planted, ahead of average with 13% of the crop emerged.
