Strong week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports export inspections of corn and soybeans for the week ending November 24th were above what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 221,985 tons, down 212,016 from the week ending November 17th and 142,132 lower than the week ending November 26th, 2015. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 13,091,457 tons, compared to 10,303,204 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 800,967 tons, 75,033 less than the previous week, but 467,411 more than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 12,539,318 tons, compared to 6,762,923 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 2,090,724 tons, a decrease of 581,345 from the week before, but an increase of 105,174 on the year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 24,006,013 tons, compared to 20,159,239 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 165,287 tons. That’s 49,560 more than the prior week, but 64,516 less than last year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 990,412 tons, compared to 2,833,395 in 2015/16.
