Tennessee crops: 70% corn, 72% soybeans rated good to excellent

Scattered rainfall brought relief to fields and pastures across Tennessee last week.   Corn is rated 70% good to excellent with 81% of the crop in the dough stage and 37% in dent.  Soybeans are rated 72% good to excellent with 63% setting pods. Cotton is rated 77% good to excellent with 73% setting bolls and 3% opening. 

Pastures conditions are holding steady with 69% rated good to excellent.  Many producers in parts of the state were making hay last week with producers getting a second and even a third cutting of hay between showers. 

Tobacco sets are rated 72% good to excellent with 70% topped. 

Topsoil is 93% and subsoil is 92% adequate to surplus.
