Tennessee crops: 72% corn, 73% soybeans rated good to excellent

Consistent rainfall has helped corn and soybean crops in the latter part of the growing season.  Corn is rated 71% good to excellent with 95% of the crop in the dough stage, 71% in dent, and 15% mature.  Soybeans are rated 73% good to excellent with 83% setting pods, and 2% dropping leaves. Cotton is rated 72% good to excellent with 96% setting bolls and 8% opening. 

Pastures are rated 74% good to excellent.  Producers are actively harvesting hay and tobacco.  Tobacco is rated 72% good to excellent with 85% topped and 16% cut. 

Topsoil is rated 91% and subsoil is rated 90% adequate to surplus.
