TN farmers make harvest progress around rains

Some Tennessee farmers were slowed by rainfall last week but harvest still made progress. 

USDA says corn is 91% harvested. 

Forty-two percent of the cotton crop has been harvested and 94% of bolls opened. 

Soybean harvest continues to run behind the average pace with 55% of the crop harvested compared to the 69 percent five-year average. 

Winter wheat is 59% planted with 37% of the crop has emerged.

Pasture conditions are rated 66% rated good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 97% and subsoil moisture is 91% adequate to surplus.
