Trade talks with EU exclude agriculture

Trade officials from the U.S. and the European Union discussed trade in Washington D.C. this week, but EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom told reporters after the meeting that talks would not include agriculture.

According to various media report, Malmstrom says the EU has made it clear they are instead focusing on industrial goods.

Last month a coalition of food and ag groups urged the Trump administration to make sure that a trade deal between the U.S. and EU include agriculture.

Maria Zieba with the National Pork Producers Council said the group is very concerned an agreement with the EU won’t include agriculture and won’t be comprehensive.
