Trump comments on tariffs, impact on farmers
President Trump says he understands farmers’ concerns about Chinese tariffs on ag products.
“Our farmers are great patriots. The understand that they’re doing this for the country and we’ll make it up to them,” Trump says. “So between NAFTA and China and all of the things we’re doing, we’re going to make them much better than they’ve ever been.”
But Trump said it will take time to resolve the trade issues.
“During this period of time…there will be a little work to be done. It will take a little while to get there,” he says.
Trump also commented on the renegotiation of NAFTA.
“We’re fairly close on NAFTA—and if we don’t make the right deal, we’ll terminate NAFTA and we’ll make the right deal after that.”
Trump made those comments to reporters earlier today.
