U.S. corn, soybean ratings improve

The USDA reports the U.S. corn and soybean condition ratings improved slightly over the past week.

As of Sunday, 76% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, up 1%, and 32% of the crop is silking, compared to the five year average of 26%.

71% of soybeans are called good to excellent, 1% higher than a week ago. 40% of beans are blooming, compared to 31% on average, and 7% of the crop has reached the pod setting stage, compared to 5% typically this time of year.

66% of winter wheat is harvested, slightly ahead of the normal pace.

70% of spring wheat is in good to excellent shape, 2% lower than last week, and 91% has headed, considerably faster than usual.

47% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, down 2%.
