USB directors planning for 2015

Strategic planning meetings are underway for United Soybean Board directors in Little Rock, Arkansas this week. They are planning projects using check-off investments for increasing soybean farmer profitability in 2015.

Doug Winter, a southeastern Illinois farmer and USB director, tells Brownfield they will work on advancing and developing expanded areas for high-oleic soybeans to grow. Winter tells Brownfield Ag News, “Right now, it’s predominantly just Group 2 and Group 3 varieties. What we are working on with that program is to try to come up with some more longer-maturing varieties and also to expand the marketing of the high-oleic oil.”

Winter says the board continues to keep its focus on projects that increase demand for U.S. soy, expanding markets both domestically and overseas.
