USDA announces recallof ground beef from Illinois firm; E.coli suspected

A possible E.coli contamination has the USDA recalling nearly 100-thousand pounds of ground beef from anIllinois firm.

The recalled beef was produced on March 10th by Valley Meats of Coal Valley, Illinois and was distributed nationwide. On May 13th, USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service was informed by the Ohio Department of Health of a cluster of E.coli infections.There have also been reports of illnesses in Illinois and Pennsylvania.

The brands included in the recall are 3-S, Grillmaster, J and B, Klub, Thick ‘n Savory, Ultimate, and over a dozen generic brands. Each product has an establishment or EST inspection number of5712.
