USDA: export inspections lower for the week

The USDA says that as of the week ending June 13th, 2019, the pace of soybean, corn, wheat, and sorghum were weak. The 2019/20 marketing year for wheat runs through the end of May, while 2018/19 runs through the end of August for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 375,365 tons, down 59,414 from the week ending June 6th, but up 1,025 from the week ending June 14th, 2018. The leading destinations were Indonesia and the Philippines. Early in the 2019/20 marketing year, wheat inspections are 797,378 tons, compared to 793,929 near the outset of 2018/19.

Corn was reported at 653,765 tons, 197,890 lower than the previous week, and 1,026,454 lower than this time last year.  Mexico and Japan were the top weekly destinations. With about a quarter left in 2018/19, corn inspections are 40,832,978 tons, compared to 42,681,978 in 2017/18.

Soybeans were pegged at 675,302 tons, 58,772 less than the week before and 143,535 lower a year ago. The biggest single destination was China, followed by Mexico.  So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 35,644,360 tons, compared to 48,308,014 last year.

Sorghum totaled 3,032 tons, a decrease of 49,404 on the week, and a drop of 28,093 from last year.  The sole listed destination was Mexico. 2018/19 sorghum inspections are 1,468,721 tons, compared to 4,761,341 in 2017/18.
