USDA extends Milk Loss signups

The USDA has extended the signup period for the Milk Loss Program until October 30th.  The previous deadline was October 16th.

The Milk Loss Program, or MLP provides compensation to farmers who had milk dumped or removed from the market without compensation during 2020, 2021, and 2022 because of qualifying weather events, power outages, impassible roads, or infrastructure failure.

Qualifying disaster events include droughts, wildfires, hurricanes, floods, derechos, excessive heat, winter storms, freeze, and smoke exposure during 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Farmers can learn more or sign up by contacting their Farm Service Agency office.
