Vilsack announces $1B renewable energy systems investment

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says $1 billion in grants have been made available to help farmers and rural small businesses invest in renewable energy systems.

Vilsack says recipients can also use the funds to make energy-efficiency improvements that help reduce climate pollution, increase resilience to the impacts of climate change, and conserve and protect farmland.

The USDA is currently accepting applications for the grants, which were made available under the Rural Energy for America Program and the Inflation Reduction Act.

The maximum grant is $1 million for renewable energy systems and $500,000 for energy-efficiency projects.
