Gov Walker at the Meat Products Auction to benefit 4-H

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has been spending a lot of time at the Wisconsin State Fair this year. He attended the opening day breakfast a week ago, on Tuesday he hosted the Blue Ribbon Meat Products Auction which raised nearly $81,000 for the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. On Wednesday evening he was on the stage in the Case IH Coliseum to encourage bidders in the annual Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Sale. He also took time to meet with an agricultural delegation from the government of South Africa who were at the fair to try to learn more about ag youth programs like 4-H and FFA.

Walker says these young people represent the future of Wisconsin agriculture and events like State Fair, Wisconsin Farm Technology Days and similar events not only encourage those already involved but also may entice others to consider a career in ag. “We need them excited about applying new technologies; new innovations to help us not only feed Wisconsin but the world.”
