Oats in are 93 percent planted, 80 percent emerged, and condition remained steady at 87 percent good to excellent. Sugarbeet condition declined two points to 91 percent good to excellent. Dry beans are 42 percent planted, 12 percent emerged and first cutting of alfalfa is 48 percent complete.

Winter wheat condition remained steady at 75 percent good to excellent. The crop is now 89 percent jointed and 76 percent headed.

Some of Michigan fruit crops are advancing ahead of normal because of recent hot and wet weather. Growers have started thinning apples.  Strawberry harvest has started with smaller berries because of the recent heat.  Asparagus harvest has slowed with cooler weather in major growing regions.
