Wi-Fi expanded for cattle check-in at World Dairy Expo

A little cyber-help for World Dairy Expo. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi says the county is investing $30,000 to expand wireless internet access to the middle of the Alliant Energy Center campus. The expansion will allow World Dairy Expo to automate and expedite their cattle check-in process. Show manager Mark Clarke says it will not only streamline Expo but “prove beneficial to other events that use the campus.”

In 2011, World Dairy Expo drew 2,587 head of cattle and more than 68,000 visitors from 90 countries resulting in $17.7 million in direct spending in the Madison area. This year’s show is October 2nd through the 6th.

Covering more than 160 acres, the Alliant Energy Center campus includes the 10,000-seat Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the 255,000-square-foot Exhibition Hall, the 22,000-square-foot Arena, nine barns with 800 available horse stalls, 29-acre Willow Island and a 140-suite hotel.
