Will soy exports start to pick up steam?

An ag economist says he remains optimistic about U.S. soybean exports despite a slow start to the year.

Mac Marshall vice president of market intelligence for the United Soybean Board. “We’re in early February, so we’re past that crest of the year when we’re in the post-harvest period and whole bean exports are really going gangbusters.”

He tells Brownfield South American production will be a factor. “Brazil has got a good size crop down there, a far cry from what expectations were at the beginning of the season, but with early harvest, Brazil’s export window in the early part of the year has widened.”

Marshall spoke to Brownfield at the recent Clean Fuels Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
