Winter wheat planting close to finished in Kansas

A week of dry weather in Kansas has helped improve the winter wheat planting pace.

The USDA says 85 percent of the crop is in with 57 percent emerged.

Eighty-two percent of corn has been harvested and 71 percent of soybeans are in.

Sorghum conditions is rated 29 percent good-to-excellent, and 57 percent has been harvested.

Pasture and range conditions are 10 percent good-to-excellent.

Subsoil moisture is 20 percent adequate, and topsoil moisture is 22 percent adequate.
