Wisconsin propane terminal nears completion
CHS is nearing completion of the new propane terminal at Hixton, Wisconsin. An open house was held Thursday with Governor Walker in attendance. CHS vice president of propane, Drew Combs says, “The secure terminal, which uses modern automation and safety technologies, will be completed in mid-November.”
CHS decided to build the terminal as part of a $24 million, four-state project to deliver propane into the upper Midwest to replace the repurposed Cochin Pipeline.
The Hixton facility will be operated by Federation Co-op of Black River Falls. The terminal can offload six railcars every four-and-a-half hours and load six trucks per hour. It can store up to 360,000 gallons of propane.
