Year-round E15 would bring many benefits, economist says

A fuel economist suggests year-round sales of E15 would be good for the ag economy.

The U.S. EPA recently sent a proposed rule from eight Midwestern governors to the White House Office of Management and Budget for final review. Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy says it’s been a long time coming.

“This is not a surprise. After years of wrangling at the higher levels of government about bringing E15 on year-round, it’s not a surprise that it is finally happening.”

He tells Brownfield increased access to E15 can help lower prices. “It’s simply going to offer more motorists the option of filling up with E15 through the course of the year. Certainly, having a choice at the pump is very important to consumers.”

The National Corn Growers Association says year-round E15 can help the Biden administration meet its climate goals.
