Young Canadian farmer sees opportunities in dairy
At a time when many U.S. dairy farmers are exiting the business, a young Canadian farmer plans to add dairy to his farming operation.
Justin Bell of Chatham, Ontario farms with his grandfather on a part-time basis, while he works full-time as an ag banker. Bell says his dream is to be a full-time farmer and he sees dairy as the way to do that. He says Canada’s dairy supply management system makes it a bit less risky.
We spoke with Bell at the Royal Agriculture Winter Fair in Toronto, the first stop on the Global Affairs Canada Ag Technology Media Tour.
