Temps to vary; rain ahead late next week to favor the southern, eastern Corn Belt & southern states

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures and precipitation across most of the country.  Meanwhile, cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the mid-Atlantic, lower Great Lakes region, and southern New England.

Wet weather will be especially likely in the East and Pacific Northwest.  Elsewhere, significantly drier-than-normal weather should be limited to portions of the north-central U.S. and an area stretching from the Great Basin to western Texas.
