Milk futures mostly lower, cash dairy mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange mostly lower at midweek while cash markets were mixed.

October Class III milk up two cents at $21.48.  November 58 cents lower at $20.91.  December down 63 cents at $18.71.  January 51 cents lower at $17.08.  February through April contracts 18 to 42 cents lower.

Dry whey down $0.0125 at $0.3750.  One trade was made at that price.

Blocks unchanged at $2.74.

Barrels up $0.0075 at $2.2075.    

Butter down $0.0450 at $1.4525.  Five sales were made ranging from $1.4525 to $1.48. 

Nonfat dry milk down $0.0150 at $1.1125.  One trade was made at that price.

For November, the USDA has set the base Class I milk price at $18.04 per hundredweight, up $2.84 from October, with the base Class I skim price at $12.78, up $2.81.
