Kentucky harvest pace picks up

Harvest for corn, soybeans, and tobacco in Kentucky continues as rainfall and temperatures remain below normal.

Corn harvest advanced to 20% complete and 62% mature with 72% rated good to excellent.  Soybean harvest is 6% complete with 27% dropping leaves and 70% rated good to excellent.

Tobacco is 64% cut and 95% topped with 57% housed.  

Pasture conditions are at 46% good to excellent, even though rainfall has been limited, the cooler weather has been beneficial, and cool season grasses are showing signs of recovery.

Topsoil is 57% and subsoil is 58% adequate to surplus.
