NBB urging Obama & Congress on tax credit

The CEO of the National Biodiesel Board says he’s pleased President Obama is taking a tour of the Midwest and is emphasizing the importance of biofuels. But, Joe Jobe tells Brownfield that the NBB is also urging the President and Congress to get moving on passing the biodiesel tax credit extension that lawmakers let die five months ago.

Jobe says it’s devastating to the biodiesel industry that is bleeding jobs and finding it hard to get operating capital, “Biodiesel plants are just experiencing a triple whammy – with energy prices and tight access to operating capital and most importantly Congress’ inaction in terms of allowing the tax credit to lapse.”

Jobe says there are plants that have completely shut down while others are in “warm idle” to make it less difficult to come back online if and when they do. Jobe is urging people to visit the NBB website to get more information about the biodiesel tax credit and send in their pleas to their Congressmen and women to reinstate the tax credit immediately.
