Ohio counties receive funding

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Acting State Conservationist Michelle Lohstroh has announced Ashtabula and Cuyahoga counties will receive funding to help with damages caused by Hurricane Sandy.

NRCS is providing up to $124.8 million in Emergency Watershed Protection Program-Floodplain Easement funds which can be used to purchase a permanent easement on lands within floodplains that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

“Restoring these ecosystems ensures our lands are resilient to future threats and impacts,” NRCS Acting State Conservationist Michelle A. Lohstroh said.

Landowners in Ashtabula and Cuyahoga counties interested should contact their local USDA Service Center. The application deadline is September 2.
