Good week for sorghum export inspections

 

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections as of the week ending April 26th remain behind what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2017/18 marketing year, while sorghum continues to out-perform. The current marketing year runs through May for wheat and August for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 376,256 tons, down 267,681 from the week ending April 19th and 213,526 lower than the week ending April 27th, 2017. Late in the 2017/18 marketing year, wheat inspections are 21,895,240 tons, compared to 24,400,542 near the end of 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 1,465,265 tons, 272,721 less than the previous week, but 334,223 more than this time last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 31,258,487 tons, compared to 38,489,776 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 679,379 tons, up 207,044 from the week before and 124,921 higher than a year ago. For the marketing year to date, soybean inspections are 43,503,705 tons, compared to 49,499,137 last year.

Sorghum totaled 193,785 tons, an increase of 70,423 on the week and 78,174 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,502,833 tons, compared to 4,209,088 in 2016/17.
